Q For Quemeful, The Need Of The Hour…

I must admit–even after a thorough search, I was unable to find an emotion that begins with Q. All that are available are adjectives. Q is, after all, the queen of all–pricey; not an easy catch. But how can the alphabetical list be complete without the queen? And hence today’s word is not really an emotion, but an attribute– Quemeful (pronunciation here). It refers to someone who is forgiving, compassionate and kind-hearted.

As a child raised in the early 80’s, life was more about living within one’s means. And everyone did not have everything. But that was acceptable. Children and adults alike understood that we spend what we have; we don’t over-stretch; parents may refuse and that was absolutely acceptable. Today there is an abundance of everything. Almost everyone is living much beyond their means. There is no saying “no”. But even with everything in abundance, we still need people who are kind and compassionate and not ruthless, going to any extent to achieve an end. Selfishness is common; you need to think of yourself to succeed, whether personally or professionally. No one wants to be quemeful and let go for others. And in the middle of this excess, aggressiveness and the grandiose world, being quemeful is all the more needed. Don’t you think?

A new word, a simple trait, but one that requires a lot of patience, unlearning and thought–can we try to be quemeful, please?

  1. Wow! That pronunciation had ne flummoxed. I’d think twice before I ever use this to compliment someone. 😁
But this is a new addition to my vocabulary. So thanks for that.
